Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is linked with a possible move to Real Madrid in a swap deal for Gareth Bale. The move would see Manchester United losing out on arguably the top goalkeeper in the Barclay’s Premier League, but it may be their only way of landing Gareth Bale’s elusive signature.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star was set for a move to Old Trafford before the start of the 2013/2014 season but opted instead for a move to Real Madrid for a record setting transfer fee of £85million. With Manchester United still keen on signing the Welshman, Real Madrid have spotted an opportunity to land David De Gea.

The situation is complicated by the fact that the Spanish goalkeeper is left with 18 months on his contract. Should Manchester United ignore the deal, the could have to part with David De Gea for nothing at the end of the upcoming season as he is yet to extend his contract.

Real Madrid are said to be eyeing Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus as a replacement for Gareth Bale.
