AB de Villiers has done it again. The South African cricket captain scored a scintillating 162 off just 66 balls in a world cup game versus the West Indies.

The Islanders must be getting sick of AB de Villiers by now. Just a month ago he blitzed 149 at the Wanderers against the same opposition.

Records keep tumbling

In that game at the Bullring, AB de Villiers set new records for fastest 50, quickly followed by the fastest ODI ton. He was then dismissed one shy of what would have been an exceptional 150.

Today’s innings went a couple sixes longer. The Proteas captain also secured the fastest ODI 150 in the history of the game, helping his side to a total of 408/5.

The West Indies are going to have to pull a few rabbits out of the hat if they are to get close.

Update:

All over: West Indies all out for 151, South Africa win by 257 runs

And there we have it. The misery ends for West Indies, all out for 151. Jason Holder’s 48-ball 56 was the only knock were getting a mention here, and once he departed, Morne Morkel hammered the final nail in the coffin and wrapped things up with the wicket of Sulieman Benn.

Man of the Match, well, as expected is Abraham Benjamin de Villiers, whose whirlwind 162* set the game in South Africa’s favour even before the second innings began.

West Indies needed something special, more so from Chris Gayle, but one batsman followed the other and they were left gasping for breath by Imran Tahir and Kyle Abbott. At 53 for five, the target of 409 looked light years away.

AB de Villiers – The man of the moment

It’s a very enjoyable day. Very good performance after a disappointing day at the MCG. I think our top three are natural ball players. Rilee came in and bit of injection of momentum and I followed.

I was very happy with Farhaan the way he came in there. Incredible bowler, he’s proved that against all oppositions. Actually I had some stomach problems last night, so I didn’t eat much.
